About NAD+
NAD+ is a naturally occurring coenzyme found in all living cells and central to cellular energy production and metabolic processes. In laboratory environments it has been widely studied for its role in redox reactions, mitochondrial activity, DNA repair processes and cellular signalling pathways.
Handling & storage
Supplied as a lyophilised powder to preserve stability. For laboratory use, it can be reconstituted with sterile bacteriostatic water or a suitable buffer chosen in line with your research protocol. NAD+ is water-soluble and typically forms a clear solution; gentle warming or sonication may be used if needed to aid dissolution.
Once reconstituted, store solutions at 2–8°C. For longer-term storage, divide into aliquots and freeze at −20°C, avoiding repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
Research areas of interest
Preclinical and laboratory investigations have explored NAD+ in relation to several biological pathways:
- Cellular energy production: its central role in ATP production and mitochondrial energy metabolism.
- DNA repair & cellular maintenance: pathways associated with genomic stability and cellular repair mechanisms.
- Ageing & longevity research: interaction with sirtuin activity and cellular resilience pathways.
- Neurobiological research: neuronal energy metabolism and cellular signalling within the nervous system.
